Chapter 243
Inside the banquet hall.
Nancy and Ramona made their entrance, and instantly, all eyes were on them.
Just like Ramona had predicted, even without a lavish gown, Nancy's presence was commanding. Her tailored black suit accentuated her sharp features, exuding an aura of confidence and sophistication.
Ramona, on the other hand, wore an elegant black evening gown, her makeup adding a touch of allure to her already captivating gaze.
Two different types of beauty, yet both equally mesmerizing.
Ramona hooked her arm through Nancy's. "Lena, shall I introduce you to some investors?"
Nancy nodded with a professional smile plastered on her face.
Soon enough, Ramona led Nancy to an elderly lady with silver hair.
Before Ramona could even make the introductions, the lady extended her hand towards Nancy. "Lena, I've often wondered about the person who can create such exquisite jewelry, each piece seeming to have its own soul. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."noveldrama
Nancy took the lady's hand warmly. "Ms. Gaye, you're too kind. Compared to your contributions to charity, my work is hardly noteworthy."
Gaye was known as the queen's confidante and the most dedicated philanthropist in Ardenweald. She had poured her entire fortune into charity, choosing philanthropy over personal pursuits like marriage.
"Nonsense, my dear. I believe your talent can gift every special individual with something truly transformative," Gaye said, her grip firm and sincere.
Nancy was momentarily taken aback, about to nod in agreement when a sarcastic voice cut through the air.
"Ms. Gaye, you're placing too much faith in Lena. Have you forgotten the recent scandal she stirred up?"
The voice belonged to Sarah, who approached with a smirk. She looked much better than she had in recent times, though the dark circles under her eyes hinted at sleepless nights.
The onlookers exchanged glances, eagerly anticipating the drama to unfold.
Judson, watching from the second floor, frowned deeply. Michael, standing beside him, chuckled mockingly. "Looks like Sarah hasn't learned her lesson."
Ramona's smile widened, laced with irony. "What Scandal? All I remember is someone.accused Lena of plagiarism, but Lena cleared her name live. You seem awfully upset about it. Could it be you're the mastermind behind the TX Runway Show?"
The crowd gasped collectively.
Wasn't Lucy the face of the TX Runway Show? Was there a connection to the Hernandez family after all?
Sarah's face flushed with anger. "Do you have proof? Without proof, you're just slandering."
"I laid out all the evidence, yet you're still in denial, terrified my work isn't plagiarized," Nancy replied coolly, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "It's clear you can't stand to see others succeed."
Sarah clenched her jaw, clearly wanting to say more.
"And who invited you as a plus-one?" Gaye interjected impatiently. "Can't you see
I'm in the middle of a conversation with Lena?"
Her expression turned stern, her authoritative presence palpable, freezing the very air around them.
Before Sarah could respond, a portly middle-aged man pushed through the crowd. He shot Sarah a warning glare before turning to Gaye. "Ms. Gaye, I apologize. My fiancé can be a bit tactless."
Fiancée?
Nancy raised an eyebrow in mild surprise, though she remained unfazed. Sarah looked mortified, her entire body trembling with suppressed emotion.
What do you think?
