The Road to Rebirth Her Fresh Start and His Late Sorrow

Chapter 242

"Aren't you worried Ramona might actually tie the knot with you? You know she was originally promised to Judson by that old geezer," Lilly sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Malcolm shifted uncomfortably. "Well, if Judson hadn't turned her down, do you really think the whole marriage alliance would have landed on your plate?"

Malcolm was silent, his discomfort palpable in the air.

Lilly sighed impatiently, "Malcolm, you need to be more decisive. Just be discreet enough so Judson doesn't catch wind of it." She had always had a bone to pick with Lena.

If it weren't for Lena, Judson wouldn't have pulled that stunt with The Grey Group. And The Grey Group wouldn't be in this mess, with the whole company in a vegetative state. Even if things got better, they'd still be limping around.

Malcolm's eyes showed a flicker of realization. He nodded solemnly, "I get it."

"Good, just make sure you go through with it. You have dirt on Lena, don't you? So what are you waiting for? Stop testing the waters and make a move," Lilly said, tilting her chin up defiantly.

Malcolm had a knack for probing before acting, always gauging his opponent's depth.

But when facing a sharp adversary, hesitation could be fatal.

Determination set in Malcolm's eyes as he nodded slightly. Lena had practically handed this to him on a silver platter, and he wasn't going to be polite about it.

Meanwhile, Nancy had no clue what Malcolm was planning. After heading home with Judson, she went straight to bed.

She slept right through to the following afternoon, and if it hadn't been for Judson dragging her out of bed, she could've kept sleeping.

In the smoothly cruising car, Judson couldn't resist muttering, "I told you you were exhausted, but you didn't believe me. After seeing you sleep that long, I was about to call the doctor."

"Alright, enough already, you've said it about a hundred times," Nancy chuckled helplessly, her ears practically ringing from his nagging.

Judson shot her a mock-offended look, "So, it's my fault for being concerned?"

Nancy looked at Judson's

faux-angry face and relented,

"Alright, I'm sorry. That's not what I meant. I'll meet with the investors

tonight, then we can head home together, okay?"

en

Judson's eyes lit up, nodding enthusiastically. "Great, that's a promise, Nancy."

As Judson parked the car, Ramona approached them with a curious smile.

Seeing Nancy's attire, she couldn't help but tease, "Why did you show up dressed like that?"

Nancy sported a professional black business suit, revealing nothing but her face and hands. It wasn't ugly, but it certainly didn't have the wow factor of an evening gown.

Before Nancy could respond, Judson puffed up with pride, "I picked it out. Looks great, right?"

Ramona laughed, giving Nancy a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Luckily, you have a pretty face. Otherwise, that outfit wouldn't stand a chance. Let's get inside."

Nancy gave a slight nod but glanced back at Judson in the car before going in.

"Don't wander off. I'll be quick."noveldrama

Judson nodded quickly, his face the picture of innocence. "Don't worry, Nancy. I've got this."

Yeah, right. Reliable was probably the last word you'd use to describe him.

But seeing him like that, Nancy swallowed her words and followed Ramona inside.

Once Nancy and Ramona were out of sight, Judson stepped out of the car.

Barely had he found his footing when a teasing voice reached him, "Aren't you supposed to be the reliable one?"

"Cut the crap," Judson shot back, his expression flat as he glanced at Michael approaching with a grin.

Michael sauntered over, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I heard Cyrus might turn up tonight. Wonder if he's inside already?"
