Chapter 617
Matthew was perplexed. "Do we really have 200 executives for 500 employees? Are you serious?"
Judson slowly said, "Let me be clear. At Silvaris Pharmaceuticals, we have a total of 500 employees. Out of those, 300 are workers and 200 are executives working in the office.
"With 190 executives on leave, that leaves us with ten executives. Do you understand what that means?"
How could there be 200 executives? Matthew gaped at Judson in disbelief with his eyes wide open.
Having ten executives and a few team leads would be more than enough, but this factory actually had 200 executives. This was just insane. There was no way a place like this could still be in business.
"You're right. We need to get rid of 90%, or better yet, 95% of the executives. Cutting out those deadweights is the only way to improve productivity."
Judson didn't see that coming from Matthew and remarked with a twinge of regret, "What a shame. You're merely a chauffeur. Your word doesn't mean anything."
Matthew didn't want to get into details about who he was, so he just chuckled and comforted, "Sure, I'm just a chauffeur, but isn't the boss beside me? She can fire all those ridiculous executives and hire ten new ones."
Would that work? Judson looked at Tracy with hopeful eyes, waiting eagerly for her to take a stand.
Tracy furrowed her brows, mulling over the feasibility of Matthew's proposal. Plus, it felt like it was something she needed to tell Rachel first.
She pulled out her phone when she saw Matthew winking at her like he was flirting. Her cheeks immediately turned rosy.
Noticing that Tracy hadn't said a word, Matthew smiled and nudged her.
"Someone is still waiting for your reply, Ms. Lauder."
Reply? Tracy realized she had the wrong idea. With her face blushing, she stammered, "A-alright. We'll follow your suggestion. Let's lay off all the executives and bring in new management."
Judson was a little worked up. "Are you firing all the 200 executives?"
When Tracy heard that there were 200 executives, it only strengthened her
resolve. "All of them need to go. We can't afford to have 200 freeloaders on the payroll."
Rachel bought this factory for a profit, not to keep slackers around. It was necessary to take action for that.
Judson got all fired up. "Let's call a meeting. We need to announce immediately to lay off the 200 executives. I'm sure all the workers will be on board."
Matthew chimed in, saying, "Then let's quickly gather all the employees for a meeting."
He wanted to sort out the Silvaris Pharmaceuticals' situation quickly, so he could focus on Nelson's assignment.
Judson nodded and headed back to start calling everyone for a meeting.
In the conference room on the top floor, Devonte stood up. "With everyone on the same page, the next step is to kick off the plan-"
Devonte was halfway through his sentence when the door burst open. Judson stormed in and walked up to the podium.
"The new director is here and is calling for a meeting downstairs. Please go downstairs for the meeting."
Meeting? Devonte frowned.
"Shouldn't we be having the meeting in a conference room? It's so hot outside. How are we supposed to have a meeting there? Tell the new director that we're all in the conference room waiting for him."
Judson hated Devonte the most. Back when he first joined the company, he was in charge of inspecting the materials.
The materials Devonte's nephew procured were not up to par. He turned down the delivery and ended up getting his pay cut by half for a month.
Later, after the disagreement with Devonte's nephew, he got transferred to a production role—the hardest and most exhausting role in the company.
What was supposed to be a two-person job ended up being all on him. Over the
past two years, he worked so hard that his health started to suffer.noveldrama
Upon hearing Devonte's words, Judson couldn't help but scoff. "The director called for a meeting. What makes you think you can order him to have a meeting here?"
What do you think?
