When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 234

An apology riddle?

Ethan wanted to maintain his cold demeanor, but when he heard that, he couldn't hold back his smile.

Her apology was filled with sincerity.

When he noticed the signature at the bottom, his mood improved. She had actually just commissioned the piece, rather than purchasing something ready- made.

With this level of sincerity, even if she had done something wrong, he would've forgiven her.

"Thank you. This gift is really special. I really like it."

She must have done something unusual, like owing a huge favor, to get a master calligrapher to write something like this.

Either way, he was satisfied and surprised.

"I'm glad you like it."

Josephine let out a breath of relief. "So, does this mean you forgive me?"

How should he put this?

Ethan wanted to laugh, but he held it in.

He wasn't actually angry at her. He was just frustrated that their relationship hadn't progressed despite spending so much time with her.

Especially the day before, when he saw her chatting and laughing with Zayn over

a meal, he felt even more anxious.

He was afraid that she would get back together with Zayn.

He was worried that his efforts would end up in vain.

Finally, when they played squash in the afternoon, he wanted to use that opportunity to shake things up.

Even if he couldn't make her fall for him or even develop any feelings, he wanted to leave an impression.

In truth, everything was an act, from start to finish.

Josephine's squash skills were indeed decent, but her explosiveness and reflexes were limited. It would've been great if she could score four to six points against him.

If he were to go all out, she'd be lucky to score three points against him.

However, he'd held back.

He let her win, let her feel proud, let her be thrilled, so that he could catch her off guard when she was at the peak of happiness.

When he saw her leave the club alone, looking defeated, it felt as if his heart was being pricked by ants.

But he endured it.

Today, she brought a gift and looked for him, trying to make to make amends.

she had been thinking ned t ever since yesterdi.ne

him.

That was more than enough.

He raised his hand and gently patted her head. "There's nothing for me to forgive. Yesterday, I shouldn't have thrown a tantrum.

"I lost fair and square. I bet I looked like a sore loser."

"No, no. Your sportsmanship was great. I was in the wrong. When you played Mr. Frye, you let him win a few points.noveldrama

"Not only did I not do that, I didn't show you any mercy and crushed you. I'm sorry."

Crushed him...

That was a bit of an exaggeration.

The corner of Ethan's mouth twitched as he corrected her. "I still scored a few points. I didn't get completely crushed."

Josephine smiled. "Yes, yes. You did great. I'm a pro, after all. You shouldn't compare yourself to me."

Why did her words sound like she was pacifying a child who didn't get their candy?

This made him a little upset.

Josephine quickly changed the subject. "By the way, we had a bet. If I win, you have to accompany me to customize a fragrance for me. Don't forget about it."

"Of course. If we finish early today, we can go over later."

When the auditions started, Josephine and Ethan both walked out of the room.

Mason, the assistant directors, and

the other staff all kept quiet when

they saw this. They quickly looked

aking about the same thing.

Both of them looked really good together.
