Chapter 576
Dylan did not show up that night, nor did he fulfill his promise to send Noelle and Rosie to the airport the next day.
Seline even cursed him a few times for being irresponsible.
"It's fine. He probably has something really important to deal with," Noelle said.
"No matter how important it is, he shouldn't have just left you hanging like this! He's so unreliable. I'm definitely going to give him a piece of my mind later!" Seline's frown deepened as she spoke.
After a brief pause, Noelle asked, "Do you think something happened at his company?"
"Like what?" Seline shot back.
"I don't know. That's why I'm asking you."
Seline shook her head. "I haven't heard anything. Do you know something I don't?"
"No. I'm just worried."
"About what?"
Seline had been a little nervous at first, but the moment she heard what Noelle said, she relaxed instantly. "His company is already on the right track. Sure, it's not on par with some of the bigger corporations, but it's stable now.
"So, I'm sure it's fine. Besides, I haven't heard anything. You're probably just overthinking things."noveldrama
Seline's reassurances finally put Noelle's mind at ease.
Seline's temper flared up quickly but faded just as fast. After chatting with Noelle for a bit, she soon forgot about holding Dylan accountable and turned to talk to Rosie about the plot of a cartoon. The atmosphere in the car became warm and lively after that.
Lately, Seline had been busy taking over her family's business, so she only dropped Noelle and Rosie off at the terminal entrance before leaving.
With Rosie in tow, Noelle checked in their suitcases before making it through security. Only after everything was settled did she finally sit down to text Dylan.
"Seline dropped us off at the airport. We're waiting to board now."
Dylan didn't reply immediately, which was unusual for him.
Noelle stared at her phone screen, and after a while, a frown involuntarily appeared on her face. She even opened a news app, refreshing the page repeatedly.
Each time she saw no news about Dylan's company, she let out a small sigh of relief, only to start refreshing again moments later. Her repetitive actions carried a hint of anxiety, almost to the point of obsession.
Finally, the boarding announcement came. As they boarded the plane and the flight attendant reminded everyone to turn off their devices Noelle refreshed her phone one last time. There was still no news, but she did receive a reply from Dylan.
He told her to stay safe and said that once he wrapped things up, he would visit them in Stormridge.
Noelle finally felt a bit more at ease. After replying with a simple "okay", she turned off her phone.
Dylan had said he would visit them in a couple of days, but it wasn't until a week later that he finally came.
Noelle hadn't been too concerned
about it at first. After all, it wasn't like
Dylan visited them frequently in the
past, and she had never particularly looked forward to his arrival
before-but this time was different.
Noelle remained unsettled the longer Dylan hadn't appeared. Even though everything in Coppersville seemed calm and uneventful during that time, she couldn't shake her unease.
That was why, when Noelle saw
Dylan suddenly appear, the tension she'd been holding onto instantly melted away-along with everything she'd been feeling. For the first time ever, she took the initiative to hug him.
Dylan was standing at her door, a suitcase at his feet. Noelle had just taken Rosie
out to play and was still holding her water bottle in her hand.
But at that moment, she didn't care about anything else. She simply reached out and hugged him.
What do you think?
