Tracy's expression shifted. She didn't expect that such a small place like Silvaris Pharmaceuticals could be involved with something this serious. Devonte actually had connections with the Food and Drug Administration.

"Besides that, they have connections with the water company, the electricity company, and the tax office. If you axed their jobs, what's going to happen to Silvaris Pharmaceuticals?"

Judson was looking grim. It looked like Tracy was backing down. He'd be screwed and lose his job.

Devonte sported a smug expression. "If your boss wishes to speak to me, you'd better ask her to get here right away. Otherwise, the Food and Drug Administration's inspectors are going to show up at any minute, and things will get tough. You only have ten minutes to get her to contact me."

Tracy's anger flared up in an instant. Devonte was going too far, leveraging his uncle's influence to his advantage. He was just riding on someone else's coattails with his snarky demeanor out in the open.

Suddenly, Matthew instructed, "Don't bother calling. Is it really necessary for something so trivial?"

Matthew chuckled. "I don't care who they are. I'll talk some sense into whoever that shows up."

Tracy was speechless. "When it comes to persuasion skills, I can speak better than you. But that's not the issue here."

Matthew brushed it off with a grin. "Trust me. I can convince them." With that, Matthew moved in front of Tracy and faced Devonte head-on.

Tracy felt even more uneasy and thought about talking Matthew out of it. But she still hoped for the best and hung back for a while. If Matthew couldn't handle it, she'd just reach out to Rachel.

Not far away, Judson stared at Matthew with disbelief. He never imagined a chauffeur would step up to talk things over. Wouldn't that just make things worse?

Judson was totally disappointed at this moment. There wasn't a shred of hope in firing the 200 executives anymore.

He figured he'd go home today and not show up for work tomorrow. He wasn't about to stick around to get fired.

Puzzled, Devonte fixed his gaze on Matthew. "Who are you?"

Matthew pointed at Tracy. "I'm her chauffeur."

He drove Tracy here today, so he decided to deal with the issue using this identity.

A mere chauffeur? What the hell? Devonte scornfully grunted. "You're just a chauffeur. Do you think you're worthy to have a word with me? Just so you know,

if the boss doesn't show up, I won't be talking to anyone."

Matthew snapped, "The boss isn't coming today. What do you want?"
