The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1582

As Mirabella stepped out of the physics department, the sky outside had taken on a moody gray, signaling that rain was just around the corner. At the school gate, Nick was already there, leaning casually against a post. He was just about to send a text when he spotted Mirabella coming out, so he tucked his phone back into his pocket with a smile.

"Hey, Nick, have you been waiting long?" Mirabella asked as she walked up to him.

Nick, with his fair skin and an air that screamed old-money charm, chuckled softly. "Not really, I just got here myself."

Mirabella nodded, moving towards the curb while fishing out her phone. "I need to send a quick text to... you know, the kid."

Earlier, they had decided to invite Cassie to join them for dinner.

Nick nodded, and soon enough, they were both in the car, heading towards Parkside High School.

By the time they reached the school, a gentle rain had started to fall. As the car rolled to a stop near the entrance, Mirabella noticed a young boy standing awkwardly by the gate. He was caught in the drizzle without an umbrella, his thin school uniform clinging to him as he shivered like a little lost puppy.

Mirabella sighed, half tempted to pretend she didn't see him. She pulled out her phone and dialed Cassie's number.

Cassie, shivering, fumbled with his phone. Just as he was about to pick up, the call dropped, and a car horn honked from the street.

He looked up instinctively, spotting the rolled-down window of the car and his sister's familiar silhouette. Cassie's face lit up, and he scampered over through the drizzle.

"You look like you can't afford a coat," Mirabella teased as he climbed into the car, her tone a mix of concern and playful scolding.

Cassie tugged at the hem of his damp school uniform, mumbling, "I was in a rush."

"I think you forgot your brain in that rush," Mirabella shot back with a smirk.noveldrama

Cassie rubbed his nose, clearly used to her ribbing, and chose not to reply. Instead, he glanced up at Nick, who was driving.

But all he could see was the back of Nick's head. Nick had been watching Cassie through the rearview mirror

since he got in. The boy, lone

around fifteen or sixteen, had clean, handsome face that didn't quite fit the image of a kid from a small town.

He seemed more like a kid from an upscale family, just like the first time Nick had seen his own sister.

"Nick, you can just call him Cassie," Mirabella said, slipping back into her usual polite mode as she introduced them.

Nick gave Mirabella a curious glance, amazed at how quickly she could switch gears. It was a new side of her for him.

Turning back to the mirror, Nick greeted Cassie, "Hey there."

Mirabella turned back to Cassie, who was trying to wipe off the rain from his clothes. She handed him a tissue from the glove box with a playful eye roll. "You can call him Nick like I do."

Cassie, catching her look, straightened up with a matching smile. "Hey, Nick."

Mirabella finally seemed satisfied, turning away as Nick watched the interaction with a slight grin.

Before long, they pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. Their table was already reserved, and the manager, waiting at the entrance, greeted them warmly while quietly instructing the kitchen to prepare their meal.
