Chapter 13
Chapter 13:.
Hayden felt a little helpless, so he could only put the dishes back where they were and patted the little guy’s head. “Do you want me to stay here with you?”.
He nodded obediently.
“Okay, I’ll stay here then.”
The boy looked stunned for a second, as if he didn’t expect her to actually agree to his request.
“However, we can’t sit on the floor like this because it’s too cold, so you’ll get sick. Shall we move to the couch?”
The young man nodded hurriedly and his obedient image was now a far cry from his previous demeanor.noveldrama
Hayden smiled in satisfaction as she led him from the floor to the couch and sat down.
He decided to ignore the mess on the floor as he told the boy a few jokes. He seemed to enjoy the jokes as his face lit up and he was now laughing non-stop.
Despite this, the boy seemed unwilling to say anything to him.
Seeing that he was now in a better mood, Hayden tentatively asked him, “Can you tell me why you are so unhappy, is it because no one keeps you company?”
When he broached this subject, it was as if his words had hit the boy’s weak spot. Hayden finally understood that the child’s tantrum was because he didn’t know how to express himself well and needed to get things down on paper.
He turned around and found a pile of papers next to the bed, as if they had been prepared in advance. Those papers were scribbled with a lot of things apparently.
He immediately held them out to the boy.
He immediately wrote one line of words, “[Daddy, bad, you didn’t take me out to play].”
Hayden was amazed that this child knew how to write so many things. He came to after a moment and realized that his parents must have taught him to write. He didn’t seem to know how to speak for some reason.
“Are you saying that your father originally wanted to take you out for fun, but in the end he didn’t keep his promise? Are you angry about that?”
The little boy nodded vigorously, there was a hint of indignation on his face.
Hayden let out a sigh as he continued to comfort him and stroked his head, “Maybe your father is too busy? Your father must have been working hard for you to live a better life; that’s why he doesn’t have much free time. That’s why he doesn’t have time to accompany you to have fun.”
The boy was not convinced by his words, and immediately wrote another line on the paper while shouting, “[I can’t see my dad, since many days. He won’t come back, I hate him].”
Had the man really left his son in a hotel room for so many days? Hayden couldn’t help but frown. What was that father really thinking?
“When your father comes back, I’ll talk to him.” Hayden took the boy’s hand and added, “How could he leave a child here alone waiting for him? Besides, this isn’t his home, this is a hotel, what if something happened?”.
The boy nodded his head.
“You were here alone these last few days?”.
He nodded again.
Hayden hesitated a moment before suggesting, “Do you want me to take you outside? Let’s get some air.”
The boy nodded immediately with obvious glee.
After all, he was still a kid who loved to have fun. Although the suite was huge, it would be stifling for an adult to be in it for a few days, and for a child it was even more so. So, Hayden decided to take him out for some fresh air.
“Oh right, what’s your name?”. Before they left the suite, Hayden suddenly asked.
Thinking he didn’t know how to say anything, she stopped short in the living room and said, “Wait a bit, let me get a pen and paper so you can write down what you think when we’re out.”
She then left the child in the living room and went back to the bedroom to get the paper and pen.
The initial crowd at the door was gone. Only two waiters and Hayden’s assistant were still standing there, while the others were nowhere to be seen.
With a loud click, someone suddenly shouted, “The crystal chandelier!”.
Hayden had just left the room when he looked for the source of that voice. Then, he saw that a chandelier directly above that child was swinging violently with the chains clanging against each other and making a loud grinding sound.
“Ah!”
The people were pinned to the door and could only watch in horror as the spider came crashing down.
