Chapter 503 Retribution Awaits
Sophia saw what was happening and couldn't help but panic. She shouted into the phone again, "What do you want?"
To her surprise, the voice on the other end let out a shaky, almost sinister laugh, sending a chill down Sophia's spine.
She grew more anxious and angry, punching her thigh and gritting her teeth as she yelled, "Michael! Do you think this is funny?"
Michael's response was nonchalant, as if he was the one in control. "No, it's not funny. So I'm about to hang up.
"Oh, by the way, I recorded everything you just said. Sophia, you know the saying 'the long arm of the law is inescapable,' right? You've admitted your crime, and you know I'll take this to the police. See you then."
With that, Michael let out a mocking laugh and hung up, leaving a long silence in his wake.
It was then that Sophia realized she had been tricked.
She looked at Dean in horror, only to see his face full of disappointment, his body slumped in the seat like a deflated balloon.
"Dean, I didn't mean to, I..."
Sophia, usually so clever, had finally slipped up.
She had orchestrated the plan that night, but now she had confessed her crime to Michael herself. Even though it was just a few words, it was enough to prove that she was the one spreading rumors about him.
The police wouldn't need to investigate further; they just needed to track them down and arrest them.
Now, seeing Sophia pitifully trying to apologize, Dean began to understand what Celeste and Archibald had said.
Women could either make things much easier or drag him into an abyss.
"Sophia, I don't get you. If you can't let go of Michael, just stay with him. Why come to me?"
With that, Dean unbuckled his seatbelt, got out of the car, and started walking down the road without looking back.
Sophia was terrified. She quickly got out and chased after him, crying and pleading.
"I'm not! I'm not! Dean, I'm so sorry, I was just nervous and panicked..."
Dean cut her off and coldly shook off her arm. "Then why did you answer his call? Admit it, you've never let go of Michael!"
Dean's face, sharp as a knife, looked even more sinister under the dim light, making Sophia shiver.
"Sophia, you've been using me from the start!"
Sophia tried to explain, but Dean's cold gaze left her speechless.
She knew that any explanation would be useless in this chaos.
Dean was right; she had been using him from the beginning. The so-called feelings were just a trap she set to catch him.
But Dean didn't realize that Sophia had developed real feelings for him.
Over time, she had become deeply dependent on Dean, even though it couldn't compare to her unrequited love for Michael. But who could say for sure?

Sophia only knew that her heart was breaking.
"Dean, Dean, listen to me! Dean!"
No matter how much Sophia screamed, Dean didn't stop.
He walked straight ahead, as if he was heading to the end of the world.
Sophia followed, her vision blurred by tears.
Eventually, she couldn't keep up and collapsed on the ground, her tears falling like raindrops, disappearing into the earth, while her heart grew heavier.
Celeste rushed to Archibald's house as soon as she heard the news.
She had planned to return to Seraphim to handle some urgent matters, but with Dean's situation, she feared their business would be ruined by the brothers.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She quickened her pace and started cursing as soon as she reached the door.
Archibald had never seen Celeste so angry. He opened the door to apologize, but Celeste slapped him in fury.
"Is this how you teach your brother? I thought you two had some sense and skill to establish yourselves in Everglade City! But I was wrong!" Celeste's face was dark, and she paced in front of Archibald, her previous kindness gone.
She now looked like a ruthless, strict leader.

"Can you give me an explanation? If not, find Dean and make him confess. Don't drag yourself, the Lancaster family, or me down!"
Celeste's true motive was clear. She was married and had to consider her family's interests.
She and her husband, though middle-aged, were still deeply in love. Managing their company abroad was hard enough. She couldn't bear to see it ruined by her two orphaned nephews.
No matter how close they were, they were still from different families. Her husband's family wouldn't spare Archibald and Dean.
If they were blamed, she would have to bear the consequences.
What a mess!
"I told him to respect the Smith family! They're not just powerful in Emerald City; they have international connections. We can't afford to offend them!
"But Dean, he thinks he's invincible, trying to drag Mr. Smith down! I'm so furious!"
Celeste's face turned red with anger, almost causing internal injury.
Archibald felt humiliated but had to apologize to Celeste.
He hadn't done anything, didn't know anything.
But overnight, Dean became a pariah, and Archibald's deepest fears began to surface.noveldrama
Hearing endless apologies, Celeste bit her lip, trying to calm down.
"Archibald, I don't care how, find Dean! If that woman is involved, find her too!"
What do you think?
