The Billionaire And His Son Want Me Back (Paisley)

Chapter 34

Dominick finished installing the new bulb and screwed the lampshade back on. "Alright, give it a try. See if it works," he said.

Paisley flipped the switch, and in an instant, the dim room was flooded with bright light.

Dominick stood on the ladder with his hands on his hips and looked down at her with a grin. "See? Not bad, huh?"

"Yeah, you're awesome." Paisley nodded, acknowledging his skill. But as soon as the words left her mouth, she felt a bit awkward.

She looked up at him, and the light from the ceiling hit his face just right, making him look handsome too. For a moment, her mind wandered back to the past-when they first met and had so many sweet memories together.

If Dominick wasn't that good-looking, she never would've fallen so hard for him.

Just then, the ladder wobbled, and Dominick stumbled, nearly falling backward.

"Careful!" Paisley instinctively moved forward to catch him.noveldrama

By the time she got to him, Dominick had already regained his balance and was standing firm.

"It's fine. It's not high, no harm done," Dominick said casually and glanced down at the floor. He looked up to find Paisley standing right in front of him.

Paisley's instinctive reaction made her feel a little embarrassed. The height of the ladder meant nothing to Dominick. She was lost in those old memories again, forgetting where she was and who she was with. The past was gone, and now, only the present mattered.

"Good to hear that," Paisley said, her tone flat, trying to pull away.

But Dominick seemed to sense exactly what she was thinking. His large hand reached out to grab her elbow, and in one swift motion, he pulled her closer.

The small space between them was filled with his heat. His breath brushed her skin, sending an unexpected rush of tension through her.

Paisley turned her head to avoid his intense gaze and said, "Come on, let me go."

"Paisley, why won't you look at me?" His voice was low and controlled, but there was an underlying hunger in it.

"What's there to look at?" Paisley snapped, turning to meet his eyes. "I just think this is meaningless." "Meaningless? Who do you find it meaningful with? That guy you call 'honey'?"

Just then, Paisley's phone lit up on the bathroom counter with ringing tones. On the screen, the word 'Honey' stood out like a neon sign.

"Yeah, right. Any problems with that?" Paisley held her phone up to Dominick, making it clear she was going to answer it.

Dominick stared at her for a moment, a bitter laugh escaping his lips, before finally releasing her elbow. Paisley quickly walked out of the bathroom and stepped onto the balcony to answer the call.

"Hey, babe! Are you home?" Emery's lively voice came through the phone.

Emery was the kind of person who shattered all stereotypes. She came from a cultured family but had a rebellious streak a mile wide. As a famous designer, she liked to wear dresses every day, but she had a fiery temper without the ladylike demeanor one might expect.

Emery always said, "Rules and expectations are meant to be broken."

Paisley replied, "Yeah, I'm at home."

"Good, I'll be over soon. Wait for me."

Paisley didn't expect Emery to be coming over soon.

She stood on the balcony and glanced back into the living room, where Dominick had come out. He was watching her again, his eyes dark and unreadable.

After finishing the call with Emery, Paisley walked back into the living room and directly said to Dominick, "You guys should leave now. I have another guest soon. It's gonna be awkward with you here."
