Talented Heiress: A Rose With Thorns

Chapter 872

Jordan was a sobbing wreck. He clutched her small hand tightly, refusing to let go as he choked out his next words.

"I promise you, my child. I will help Ms. Murray bring those poor children back..."

Seeing Jordan so heartbroken, Evelynn's eyes turned red as well. She wanted to lift her hand to wipe away his tears, but she was too weak. With her last breath, she struggled to speak.

"Daddy... don't be sad for me... I've been so happy these days... If possible... I'd like to be your daughter again in another life..."

As soon as these words fell, the heart monitor turned into a single, flat line. Evelynn had lost all signs of life. She was declared dead.

"Evelynn..."

Jordan's heart-shattering cries tugged at the hearts of everyone around, pulling them into his despair.

The other doctors sighed heavily, their faces full of regret. Such a wonderful and kind girl had left this world just like that.

Evelynn was gone.

Horace's expression changed instantly, clearly filled with guilt. He lowered his head, remaining silent.

But Yvette's fierce eyes locked onto him, exuding a chilling air of lethal intent. "What did you do to Evelynn?"

The antidote she developed had no issues whatsoever. But after it was administered to Evelynn, it had no effect on her. Conversely, her organs deteriorated even faster.noveldrama

This could only mean that someone was sabotaging things behind the scenes.

Horace didn't expect Yvette to suspect him so quickly. He panicked inside but brazenly turned the accusation back at her.

"It's clearly your lack of skill that killed Evelynn, yet now you're blaming me. You're truly shameless!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he ran to Jordan to accuse her.

"President Locke, Evelynn died only after taking the medicine Yvette developed. It's all Yvette's fault she killed Evelynn! You can't just det her get away with it!"

"You're right." Jordan nodded. His face betrayed his exhaustion, but his eyes were filled with unmistakable hatred. "I will not let the person who killed Evelynn go unpunished!"

Seeing Jordan's reaction, Horace breathed a sigh of relief, secretly pleased. Thankfully, he was smart enough to pin the blame on Yvette. He was now safe!

But in the next moment, Horace's smile froze on his face.

"Arrest him!" Jordan looked at him coldly, directing the guards to seize Horace.

Horace's face fell as he shouted, "President Locke, why are you arresting me? You should be arresting Yvette instead!"

"I trust Ms. Murray! If it weren't for her, Evelynn wouldn't have held on for as long as she did!"

Though devastated, Jordan was still clear-headed. "If Ms. Murray suspects you, then I will believe her without hesitation!"

Horace instantly fell into a panic.

Yvette walked over to him slowly, her stunning fox-like eyes filled with an icy coldness. Her hand wrapped around his neck, tightening little by little, her killing intent palpable.

"If you don't tell the truth right now, I'll break every bone in your body, one by one."

At this point, Horace knew he couldn't hide it any longer. Terrified, he began to confess between labored gasps for breath.

"I secretly... tampered with... Evelynn's medicine... But he assured me that this drug wouldn't kill her... So I mixed it into the medicine Evelynn took daily...

"I didn't mean... to kill Evelynn... I just... wanted to learn your acupuncture method..."
