Talented Heiress: A Rose With Thorns

Chapter 868

"Why... Why does Wilson get her love so easily?" Xavier stared down at his phone, his expression dark and brooding. His grip on the device tightened, teetering on the brink of shattering it. A whirlwind of emotions churned in his chest jealousy, frustration, and a deep ache he couldn't suppress.

"Xavier."

The calm voice behind him snapped him out of his spiraling thoughts. He quickly straightened, pushing aside his turmoil as he turned to face the man.

"Mr. Maximillian," he greeted respectfully.

Theodore was wearing a tailored suit that embodied sophistication.

"I overheard your conversation with Yvie just now," Theodore began, his voice measured as he walked closer. "I must admit that I'm curious about the man who managed to capture my student's heart."

Xavier's jaw clenched. "Mr. Maximillian, I think it's too soon for Yvie to bring him here. They haven't known each other long enough."

Theodore studied Xavier, a faint sigh escaping his lips. He understood Xavier's feelings all too well. Both Xavier and Yvette were his prized protégés, and he'd always imagined them ending up together. But Yvette's determination to introduce Wilson made one thing clear-her feelings weren't fleeting.

"Xavier," he said after a moment, his tone softer but firm. "If Yvie has made up her mind, then I trust her judgment."

Xavier's fists clenched at his sides, his nails digging into his palms. Theodore's words stung as they were a silent endorsement of Wilson.

Theodore placed a hand on Xavier's shoulder, saying, "You can't force love, Xavier. Some things are just beyond our control."

Xavier didn't respond to that. His dark eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flickering within them. "What if I refuse to accept that?"

...

The next day, Yvette spent the better part of her morning unwrapping gifts. By the time she was done, she was utterly exhausted, slumping onto the couch in the now half-empty room.

"Boss, this is insane!" Jake exclaimed as he surveyed the room filled with extravagant gifts. His eyes practically sparkled as he estimated the value of each item.

He was grinning from ear to ear as he said, "If we sold all this, it'd easily bring in millions. You made a fortune just from one birthday! How about celebrating a few more times a year?"

Yvette shot him a deadpan look. "No."

Jake leaned in, still grinning. "Okay but seriously, if you let me list

of this stuff on the dark web, it'll sell

in notime. It's not like your CD

these things around, right?

To his surprise, Yvette shook her head. "These aren't for sale."

Jake froze, blinking in disbelief. "Not for sale? But... why? You've never kept things like this before."

Yvette's gaze softened slightly as she glanced around the room. Her tone was firm but carried a rare hint of sentimentality. "These are different."

Seeing her appear so serious, Jake quickly backed off, his usual playful demeanor replaced with respect. "Got it, boss. No selling. I'll make sure nothing gets touched."

Just as they were finishing up, Yvette's phone buzzed. She answered, and the frantic voice on the other end made her sit up straight.

"Ms. Murray!" Jordan's urgent tone could be heard. "It's Evelynn-she has taken a sudden turn for the worse. She's in critical condition. Please, we need you to come back immediately!"

Yvette's blood ran cold. "What?"noveldrama
