Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 842

Chapter 842:

Onlookers were captivated by the unfolding drama between Conroy’s favored director and his newly discovered daughter. Fearing Eileen might expose her true identity, Jessica shot back defensively, “Why are you blaming me? It was an accident that I spilled the water. Isn’t it your responsibility to look after the child? Why blame me for your oversight?”

“You know whether it was an accident or not!” Eileen retorted, certain it had been intentional. Even if Jessica had been careless, the spill should have hit the curtain in the break room, not Gabriela, who was barely a meter tall. And it had been aimed at her face!

“Effective immediately, you’re fired. Don’t come back to the company,” Eileen declared. Just as she finished, she noticed Conroy approaching quickly.

Conroy’s expression darkened when he heard Eileen’s words. He glared disapprovingly at her and demanded, “What’s going on here?”

“Mr. Finch, I want to ask the same question! Who does she think she is, trying to fire me?” Jessica exclaimed, gaining confidence as Conroy neared. She positioned herself behind him, shooting a hasty glare at Eileen.

Before Eileen could reply, Bryan intervened, grasping her wrist. He said to Conroy, “I’m taking them to the hospital now. The water was spilled by Miss Marshall. I expect a reasonable explanation from you later, Mr. Finch.” With that, Bryan took Eileen by the arm and left, cradling Gabriela.

Bryan’s assertive words frightened Conroy more than Eileen’s anger ever could. As Eileen passed by, Conroy noticed the back of her hand was red and covered in blisters, and Gabriela’s small arm also bore blisters.

Taken aback, Conroy quickly caught up with Bryan. “Mr. Dawson, there must be some misunderstanding. You can take Eileen and Gabriela to the hospital first. I’ll stay here to sort this out. I assure you I will provide a reasonable explanation.”

Bryan did not respond; he simply followed Eileen into the elevator, ignoring Conroy for the time being. Seeing this, Conroy directed the others to return to their work and led Jessica to his office.

“What’s going on? Tell me the truth!” Conroy demanded.

Jessica’s face was red. “It’s none of your business! Aren’t you going to give an explanation? Why don’t you just fire me and let your legitimate daughter become the future of the VQ Group!”noveldrama

Conroy stood abruptly, his eyes ablaze with intensity. “So, you really did spill the water on Mr. Dawson’s daughter intentionally?”

Jessica replied, “Yes. I couldn’t bear to see Eileen caring so well for the child, making Mr. Dawson hold her in such high regard. She doesn’t deserve that! If I had the chance, I could take care of the child just as well…”

The atmosphere grew tense. Conroy frowned, his gaze stern. “Whether she deserves it is for Mr. Dawson to decide, not you! You think you’re targeting Eileen, but you’ve actually offended Mr. Dawson. This is absurd!”

Jessica bit her lip, recalling the intensity of Bryan’s gaze before he departed, and remained silent.

“Starting tomorrow, don’t come back to the company. Go home and wait for my news!” It was the first time Conroy had ever shown such a stern demeanor toward Jessica. Though seething with anger, Jessica knew she had to restrain herself and let Conroy manage the situation.
