Married at First Sight

Chapter 4488

Zachary nodded. "It's fine."

The man let out a quiet sigh of relief, wiping sweat from his forehead.

Callum also felt a wave of relief. He had no idea what had gotten into Zachary this

afternoon he was definitely off his game.

Usually, Zachary would make everyone silence or turn off their phones during

meetings and he'd never check his own.noveldrama

But today, he had his phone out on the table, not even muted. He kept glancing at

it like he was waiting for someone to call.

No one dared to ask what was going on.

They could only guess.

And they were right.

"Ring, ring, ring..." Zachary's phone finally rang. He instantly picked it up, and

when he saw Serenity's name on the screen, the gloom vanished from his face. A genuine smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

Everyone: ... We were right.

It had to be his wife.

Only Serenity had the power to distract Zachary like this.

Did they have a fight or something?

Maybe he was waiting for her to apologize?

But no one wanted to be around them if Zachary and Serenity ever fought-he made everyone else suffer whenever he was in a bad mood.

"Callum, you take over the meeting. I'm stepping out to answer this," Zachary said.

Ignoring everyone's curious expressions, he walked out with his phone in hand. His urgency only confirmed it—it had to be Serenity.

As soon as he stepped out, he answered.

"Wife," he said, his voice deliberately soft and pitiful. "Do you still remember you have a husband? I thought you went off to have fun and forgot all about me." Hearing the mock hurt in his voice, Serenity burst out laughing.

Zachary returned to his office, flopped down on the sofa, and said, "Wife, you're still laughing. God, I missed you so much. You only sent one message when you landed, and nothing since. I've been waiting all this time, and you're laughing at me?"

Serenity chuckled and gently coaxed him, "Alright, alright, I won't laugh at you anymore. My bad. I should've called earlier. I thought you were at work and didn't want to bother you. Then I ran into River, and he took us to try some local snacks. After that, we bumped into his archenemy. The two of them started bickering, and I got so caught up watching the drama that I completely forgot to call you. Grandma and Second Aunt asked me to remind River to find someone and settle down, so I paid extra attention. River and his so-called enemy are hilarious-like characters from a romantic comedy. I wish I'd recorded it.

Then we went back to River's place. I said we could stay at a hotel, but he wouldn't let us. He said if he didn't take care of us, you'd skin him alive, and my family would give him hell when we got back. So, to save him from that, I brought the kids and stayed at his house. Afterward,

I talked to Grandma on the phone for a while and figured you'd be free by now, so I called."
