Chapter 808 Drag Grace Down With Her

Phoebe sat by the hospital bed, stirring the oatmeal in her bowl, and said, "Didn't you raise Donovan and me on your own back then? Why can't I raise Hubert, Boris, and Noomi?"

"Because I've been through it, I know how hard it is to be a single mom. Phoebe, you're still young, and you have a profitable company. You don't need to find someone who makes a lot of money, just someone who can take care of the family."

Phoebe frowned.

Evelyn said earnestly, "You didn't want to be with Edward before because of Delilah. Isn't there a guy named Noah in your company? He seems to..."

"Mom, please stop." Phoebe put the cooled oatmeal on the small table. "You should eat."

Evelyn looked at her helplessly, "This one won't do, that one won't do. How about I ask Astrid to find you a date?"

"Please don't." Phoebe didn't want to continue this topic at all. "Just eat. I haven't eaten yet either."

Afraid that Evelyn would bring up finding her a husband again, Phoebe quickly went to the round table to have breakfast. In just a few minutes, her phone kept ringing.

After breakfast, Phoebe hired a nurse to temporarily look after Evelyn and hurried to the company. As soon as she arrived at the company entrance, she saw Clio and her husband from last night.

Both of them were holding flowers in one hand and a fruit basket in the other. When they saw her approaching, they quickly greeted her warmly.

"Mrs. Reynolds, we were the ones who bumped into your mother yesterday. We came today to apologize and hope you can forgive us." Clio's smiled, and Aubrey was not as arrogant as he was last night.

Phoebe knew they were apologizing because they didn't dare offend Theodore.

"The person you hurt is my mom. Whether to accept your apology is up to her. I won't accept it on her behalf." Phoebe said and turned to walk into the company.

"Mrs. Reynolds..." Clio hurried to stop her.

Phoebe frowned, her face cold, "Please don't call me that."

"Ok, Ms. Ziegler. We were wrong yesterday. We will apologize to your mother, but could you please put in a good word for us with Mr. Reynolds? Our family relies entirely on my husband's income." Clio was tearful, with no trace of last night's arrogance.

Phoebe said calmly, "Sorry, I can't help you."

She turned to leave, but suddenly there was a noise behind her. She turned back to see Clio kneeling on the ground. "Ms. Ziegler, I know you're a good person. Yesterday's incident was my fault. Please, help us. Aubrey really can't afford to lose this job."

Phoebe walked back and reached out to help her up, but Clio remained kneeling, while Aubrey stood by doing nothing.

She frowned and said, "I can't interfere with Mr. Reynolds' decision. You should go plead with him directly."

With that, she turned and walked into the lobby, swiped her card, and left the two behind, ignoring them.

Watching her walk away, Clio looked helplessly at Aubrey. "What do we do now? If she doesn't agree, are we going bankrupt?"

Aubrey slapped Clio across the face. "Look at the trouble you've caused. If you can't get Mrs. Reynolds to help us, don't bother coming home. I don't need a wife like you."

Clio lay on the ground, tears streaming down her face, watching Aubrey's fat figure walk away, and cried out loud.

Phoebe was busy at the company all day. Near the end of the day, Lori hurried in.

"Ms. Ziegler, we failed to negotiate Grace's contract with Queen Entertainment. Vanessa told the head of the actors' department that Grace and Queen Entertainment are inseparable." Lori looked upset. "How can someone behave like that? She can't run her company properly and now she's dragging the actors down with her."

Phoebe's lips tightened. "None of the conditions were accepted?"

"No, I think she just wants to hold onto Grace and sell the company for a high price. If I were Mr. Reynolds, I wouldn't respect such a short-sighted woman either." Lori said indignantly.

Superstar Entertainment had offered very good terms, but Vanessa's attitude left no room for negotiation. She wanted to drag Grace down with her.

Phoebe rubbed her temples. "I'll think about it. Don't worry, we'll find a way."

"Everyone knows about Vanessa throwing red paint on you yesterday. How can a company president act like that? If Mr. Reynolds hadn't stepped in to protect you, who knows what could have happened."

"Alright, you can go now," Phoebe said lightly.

Lori looked at her hesitantly. The news of Theodore saving Phoebe had spread in the company, and everyone knew Theodore still liked Phoebe.

But looking at Phoebe now...

"Okay, I'll go out now."

Lori hadn't been out long when she saw Phoebe rushing out with her bag. She placed

a few documents on her desk and said, "My mom is in the hospital for a few days. I might come to the company late tomorrow. Call me if you need anything." "Okay, Ms. Ziegler."

Phoebe hurried out, took the elevator downstairs, and as she reached the entrance, she saw Clio squatting outside the building. She immediately turned back, took the elevator to the basement, and asked Guadalupe to pick her up there.

As the car drove out of the underground parking lot, Phoebe sat in the back seat making a phone call, catching a glimpse of Clio still waiting outside the building.

She didn't want to make things difficult for them but felt they needed a lesson. Last night, before Theodore arrived, they were arrogant and aggressive.

After Theodore arrived and they learned his identity, they apologized. Without that, who knew how arrogant they would have been?

People like that needed to be taught a lesson.

Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of Eternal Love Hospital. Phoebe got out and walked into the inpatient department, immediately spotting Harper pacing inside.

His assistant was behind him, holding a fruit basket and flowers, looking like they were there to visit a patient.

She quickly walked over, "Mr. Ziegler, are you here to visit someone?"

Harper saw her too. He hadn't seen her in days and noticed she seemed to have lost weight. "Phoebe, I heard your mother is in the hospital. I came to see her." Phoebe was taken aback. "How did you know?"

"I heard it in passing," Harper said. "Is your mother alright? Am I intruding by coming here?"

"You're too kind. If my mom knew someone as important as you came to see her, she'd be thrilled. Let's go up."

Harper hesitated for a moment but then followed Phoebe into the elevator with Diana.
