A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust

Chapter 507

"Gideon, what on earth happened to you? Who did this to you?" Yvette's brows knit together as she walked over to Gideon.

Gideon was still stewing about what had happened the night before, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

He shot Yvette a glare. "Why are you even here? Came to gloat, did you?"

"Oh, come on, Gideon. Don't be like that. You're my husband. Of course I care if you're hurt,” Yvette shot back, folding her arms. “I just wanted to see if you were okay. I was worried, alright?"

She paused, eyeing the bruises on his face. "So... who messed you up like this?" Yvette already had a hunch, but she wanted to hear it from him. Otherwise, it was all just gossip.

"It's all because of you!" Gideon snapped, the vein in his neck twitching.

If this woman hadn't seduced him back then, his life wouldn't be a mess. He wouldn't be lying on this couch, covered in bruises.

"What does this have to do with me?" Yvette's frown deepened. Honestly, sometimes Gideon was just too much. Everything was always her fault, apparently.

"If you hadn't come after me, I'd have married Callie, just like Uncle Silas wanted. He used to love me, you know! And Callie did too. You ruined everything!" Gideon's voice cracked as he spat out the words.

Yvette's eyes widened. "Wait-you're telling me Silas did this to you? What about your mom? The doctor said she..." Yvette trailed off, unable to finish the sentence, but the gossip was too juicy to ignore.

"Mom... I let my mom down!" Gideon suddenly broke down, sobbing in the most pathetic way possible.

The sight of him crying-snot and tears everywhere was enough to make Yvette wrinkle her nose in disgust. The once-dashing Gideon was nowhere to be seen.

"Stop bawling, Gideon. Your mom's fine. The doctor just told her to stop messing around with random guys, that's all..." Yvette muttered, rolling her eyes.

"So, was it because of Silas? Or does your mom have some other guy on the side?" Yvette asked, her tone turning almost curious.

She didn't really believe Fleur was the cheating type. More likely than not, Silas was behind it. But honestly, what kind of man treats a woman her age like that? Then again, this was Silas they were talking about-he'd always been ruthless. noveldrama

Yvette glanced at Gideon, her mind racing. Silas might be scary, but he was also kind of impressive. If she'd married someone like him, her life would probably be a lot better, Maybe she'd been aiming forthe wrong guy all along.

But hey, it wasn't too late. They were all under the same roof. Men would be men, after all. Maybe she could try her luck with Silas. Gideon, lying there useless and completely cut off from inheriting the Baker fortune, was starting to look like a dead end. Why should she go down with this sinking ship?

Yvette's eyes darted as plans and schemes whirled in her head. She barely heard Gideon calling her name.

"Yvette!" he barked, finally losing his patience. He grabbed a mug from the nightstand and hurled it at her. "You witch! I said I need to use the bathroom!"

He glared at her, helpless on the bed, unable to move. "Get me the chamber pot, will you?"

Yvette just stared at him, barely able to hide her contempt. This was definitely not the life she'd signed up for.
